      Albinism is a genetic disorder that causes the skin, hair, or eyes to have little or no color and is caused by a defect in one of several genes that produce or distribute melanin.

      This is where an individual has an error in the genes that encode for the protein melanin (melanin is the molecule responsible for the pigment in our skin/eyes/hair).
