A geographic information system (GIS) is a framework for gathering, managing, and analyzing data. It has six key parts, Data, software, hardware, people, procedures, network (internet). It finds applications in almost all domains of our lives. Like you google to find where UK is, you use uber and taxify apps.

Its offered in JKUAT, UoN, TuK, Dedan Kimathi etc in Kenya as a 4-year course or part of Geomatic Engineering (5-year course)
