      Hello!
There are lots of different sorts of bleaching lotions and they all have different functions. Mostly, they work through somehow getting rid of melanin, or killing the cells that make melanin. This can be achieved by compounds that actively kill melanocytes, or disrupt the chemical synthesis of melanin, or others yet which inhibit the enzyme tyrosinase, which is an enzyme involved in the production of melanin. Most of the chemicals that are used to achieve the functions listed above are really harsh, sometimes even toxic or cancer causing and will usually cause a list of really nasty side effects.

One thing that’s common, though is that they’re all harmful for ones skin and body, and often come with adverse side effects. Even though societal pressures sometimes place a high premium on certain skin color, it is of great importance to love oneself just as they are and not ascribe to these artificial societal pressures. 🙂
